The Training Arcade® FAQ

How do I create a game?

The Training Arcade® allows anyone to create a game in under 30 minutes (no coding necessary). This game builder is remarkably intuitive and can be managed with drop downs, uploads, and type-in fields.

Below are the steps required to create a game:

  • Choose your basic game information
  • Define global game settings
  • Identify SSO integration, user registration, and leaderboard display
  • Pick from visual templates and audio tracks
  • Customize splash screen with logo, title, images, etc.
  • Write pop-up information to provide players with context before they play the game
  • Start adding questions (choosing from 5 types), uploading media, identifying right/wrong answers and writing corrective feedback
  • Translate game into 14 other languages
  • Publish game
Can I add corrective feedback to each of my questions?

When learners receive corrective feedback right away they are more likely to remember that feedback later on. So, The Training Arcade® makes it easy to give (or get) immediate feedback. For best results, we encourage you to provide feedback for both correct and incorrect answers, adding useful context to each of your points.

How Many instances can I make using the games in my subscription?

You can make as many game as you want using each of The Training Arcade® games in your subscription.

How do I add The Training Arcade® games to my LMS?

The Training Arcade® games can all be published as SCORM 2004: 3rd Edition and SCORM 1.2 packages for easy integration into the majority of LMS.

What type of user data can I track?


  • Training is useless without analytics. Simply checking a box or using a five question assessment at the end of a course isn’t effective. Trainers who want to improve knowledge and optimize behavior must engage their audience throughout the training with games and activities to (1) provide a practice playground and (2) deliver comprehensive analysis.
  • The Training Arcade® analytics dashboard is engineered to unveil patterns of individual and group engagement with your material, thereby improving your training ROI by revealing knowledge gaps, personality behaviors, and group comparisons.
  • View and sort topline data including the number of users, scores, rank, sessions, session duration, % of questions correct / incorrect, and total questions answered.
  • Analyze individual outcomes by looking at all sessions played, how each player answered each question by session, how many attempts it took them before answering a question correctly, and identify insights into knowledge acquisition and retention.
  • Review macro trends for each question including time required to answer, number of times players have attempted to answer, and % of time players have answered correctly / incorrectly.
  • Dig deeper into each answer to identify any misperceptions.
  • Sort data by date for comparison purposes and exported as a CSV file to share with stakeholders.
Are these games included in my eLearning Brothers templates subscription?

What is the limit on the number of games (or quizzes) or employees per each game?

It’s unlimited! We want everyone to be able to play the awesome games you create. And don’t worry about network bandwidth either—it’s all included.

Can other IDs or managers see the results in the analytics dashboard without being an administrator?

Yes, we’ve created a view-only mode so you can share access to all the assessment data and leaderboards.

How are The Training Arcade® games different from others or even the ones in the authoring tool I use?

We’re so excited to be able to offer The Training Arcade® to you because we truly believe these games are the best rapidly customizable games on the market. Here are a few reasons why:

The games in The Training Arcade® were built first and foremost as really fun, polished, engaging games. They are created by game designers and then infused with a strong educational foundation. In making the games so addicting, we give you the opportunity to work in not just the typical 5 questions in a quiz, but 25, 30, or even 50 questions, allowing you to emphasize high-priority learning objectives.

Games create positive emotional connections. The more positive the learner’s connection with your content is the more open a person’s mind is to learning. Our games give you a way to create that positive bond while saving tons of time in your development. We’re all about the data. Each game captures data that gives you an in-depth assessment of your learners’ knowledge at the individual and group levels. Armed with that knowledge, you can make any adjustments you need to optimize training effectiveness.

You can follow the leaderboard. A leaderboard is automatically built for each game, saving you time. For many learners, seeing how they rank against others in their company will motivate them to go back and try again. Each repeated play reinforces your learning content. No other games on the market combine fun and learning with the assessment tools and competitive leaderboards offered by The Training Arcade® to perfectly complement your eLearning courses and enhance overall learning.

Can The Training Arcade® be hosted on my servers instead of on the cloud?

We take your data privacy very seriously and host the service on secure Amazon servers with all data encrypted—in transit and at rest. Having The Training Arcade® in the cloud allows us to provide everyone with updates to new games, art and sound templates, and—most importantly—security and system updates. These are more difficult to maintain when the service is taken off the main programming branch. If your company requires, we do have the ability to create an entire instance of The Training Arcade® and put it on your servers. Please contact us for a custom quote to self-host The Training Arcade™.

Can the games be played offline?

No, the entire Training Arcade is a web-based system and needs to be connected online for the data to flow from the games you created to your learners.

Can I sell the individual games I create or include them in courses that I then sell?

No, you can only publish games as a part of an internal training program or for a client using it for a specific training program.

How do I access The Training Arcade®? Is it through eLearning Brothers or directly with them?

Through our partnership with The Game Agency, we’ve created a single sign-on service which enables you to access The Training Arcade® directly through the eLearning Brothers platform.

Can the leaderboards be reset?

Technically, yes; but, requires a manual process and can be done for an additional fee. The best option is to use the date range feature so you can see the leaderboard just from the day or week you’re trying to see.

Can the analytics reflect leaderboards for separate groups in the same company?

Not currently. We can do this, but an additional cost will be involved.

Can point values for different types of questions be adjusted?

In Jeopardy and Scenarios yes. Point values don’t exist in the other games.

Who do I pay for the subscription?

Your subscription is paid through eLearning Brothers.

Is it possible to purchase a license to have in perpetuity? If so, what is the cost?

Since the Training Arcade games are web-based games hosted by The Game Agency (TGA), we can’t do perpetual licensing. Outside of The Training Arcade®, however, TGA can work with you on creating a custom deal where you can host the game yourself.

If the game is played within a course, will the course recognize the user based on their LMS login?

The short answer is no. Instead, when a game is embedded as a web object in a course, you would want to enable registration in The Training Arcade® game builder so your users can quickly register at the start of the game. We are working on single sign on which would handle registration automatically.

How do the games work with Adobe Connect if at all?

Games have been used before during Adobe Connect sessions. The game link is simply provided to the attendees during the conference. They can open the link to play the game, and the administer shows the leaderboard on the web conference as results stream in. We are looking at further embedding into Adobe products, but that’s what we have right now.

Can Jeopardy be played live and competitively against other players?

Currently it’s played solo, but we’re working to make it multi-player I believe.

What is TTA security environment like?

Our system is being used by 75+ global companies including high-compliance industries like pharma and financial. We conduct dynamic and static scans of our code and environments as well as third party penetration testing on a regular basis to make sure high level security is always maintained.

Is there a trial subscription to the service?

There’s no trial, but we are happy to give you a demo and send you some sample games to play. The sample games have general training related questions and answers in them which will give you a good feel for the potential of using the games with your own content. Do The Training Arcade® games integrate with the rapid authoring tools?

You can integrate The Training Arcade® into PowerPoint, Storyline, Captivate, Lectora, and other elearning authoring tools as a web object.

The sky’s the limit. Subscribers use The Training Arcade® to build training and reinforcement games focused on new-employee onboarding, sales and product training, leadership development, safety, security, compliance, systems & processes, customer service, and many other training topics.

What type of training format are The Training Arcade® games best suited for?

Most subscribers utilize The Training Arcade® games for:

Can I customize The Training Arcade® based on my brand guidelines?

Yes. If you like our games but want a custom design to fit your brand, we have two options:

Basic – 1-3 days ($2,000 – $6,000) per game. This includes color updates to one of our existing backgrounds or implementation of art you supply based on our specifications, font updates, and new or edited characters / icons.

Advanced – 7-10 days ($10,000 – $14,000) per game. This includes custom backgrounds, font updates, new characters / icons, alternative button shapes, additional sound fx, and additional music tracks.

How do I protect my content and data?

The Training Arcade® is used by some of the most highly regulated industries and corporations. As a result, we take security very seriously. Below is an overview of our protocols.

TGA has defined processes for access management (e.g. provisioning accounts for users, limiting user access based on the principle of least privilege, terminating access and periodic access certification). TGA access to client data is governed by our Privacy Policy. The Training Arcade® resides on AWS. We maintain strong password configuration requirements (high character count, include lowercase and uppercase alphabetic characters, numbers and symbols). and require multi-factor authentication to further secure the environment.
Passwords expire at least every 90 days and are encrypted at rest and in transit, using industry-standard information security encryption algorithms. For customer data on The Training Arcade® a protocol is in place to prevent connectivity between two sets of data. Specifically, every customer has a unique subdomain and we have a software protocol in place to prevent connectivity to data stored under a subdomain to which a customer is not authorized access.

For systems which have access to Client Data, a separation of duties process is in place for approving and implementing access with sponsorship and duration documented. Access to Client Data is limited to providing the service and in accordance with our Privacy Policy. Employees and contractors are assigned unique user accounts to access Client Data, systems and/or applications. We maintain a Data Classification policy that includes security requirements based on the classification of the data. We do not maintain any physical assets or servers in our offices. All information is stored within Amazon Web Services EC2 instances and RDS databases.

We have a Business Continuity Plan (BCP) and a Disaster Recovery Plan (DRP). The plans are part of a broader context that include Security, IT, Personnel and company operations. Specifically the BCP & DRP cover handling both disruptions (environmental, electrical, civic disruption, etc.) and destruction (fire, flood, explosion, earth movement, etc.) at our physical locations and the AWS data centers we use to deliver services. The plans include information on backup infrastructure and procedures, chain of command and communications to employees and clients, and overall system recovery. The annual test of our BCP and DRP was completed March, 2018. All clients using The Training Arcade® are notified when there are scheduled or unexpected interruptions to the service.

For more information on the topics below, please refer to our Privacy Policy. We do not store, transmit, process or access Client Data, systems and/or applications from outside the United States. There are individuals responsible for ensuring compliance with Privacy, Regulatory, Legal and Security requirements.

All non-public data is encrypted in transit using TLS and our databases are encrypted at rest. Client Data is encrypted in transit over public networks. Remote access connections into our network occur over an encrypted tunnel (e.g. VPN). Logins and data transfers are secured with encryption for cloud connections (e.g. HTTPS, SFTP, etc.). Wireless networks are required to be encrypted in accordance with industry standards.

We conduct background checks on employees in accordance with local, state and federal laws. We expand this to third parties and contract workers on a case-by-case basis depending on the specific engagement. We expand the scope of the background check when the situation requires it (e.g. our work in
banking/financial institutions).

We manage risk via policies governing web security, application security, server/IT security, business continuity, disaster recovery, change control, The Training Arcade® privacy policy & terms of use, The Training Arcade® subscription agreement, and The Training Arcade® guidelines and restrictions. Collectively, we review these policies at least annually. All confidential information, otherwise known as PII (personal identifiable information), is restricted to TGA administrators only. This includes access, handling, and destruction of data. Admin access is reviewed and granted by TGA super Admin on a monthly basis and ad hoc as required. TGA employs a third party security firm that conducts annual training to team members based on their role and relative access to data and confidential data. A small group of administrators receives additional training related to best practices and the evolving threat landscape. There is a process to identify, monitor, track, and remediate all identified risks and vulnerabilities on an ongoing basis.

We have an Incident Management Policy and an Incident Management team assigned to respond to security incidents. TGA has support agents that operate during business days, during business hours (Monday through Friday 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM EST). TGA also employs team members who are on call 24/7 and are notified of system outages, security events, and other major alerts. If required for the scope of work with Enterprise Learning we can employ dedicated support staff to meet customer requirements.

When an issue is identified, TGA personnel log it in our task management system and assign it to the appropriate technical personal with priority level, description, and requested due date. Technical staff accepts the ticket by marking it as in progress. Once resolved, the ticket is sent back to the reporter who provides a quality assurance function and closes the ticket when satisfied. All updates and changes are deployed in commits and merged into the staging or production instances for deployment when appropriate. Production deployments do not occur on Fridays or Holidays except in the case of emergencies and critical
updates. Backups of systems and data are performed daily.

We have an Information Security Policy and an Information Security team with defined Privacy and Security roles and responsibilities. Our information Security group maintain contacts with Information Security special interest groups, specialist security forums, and professional associations (i.e. ISACA, CSIRT,
(ISC)2, etc.)

TGA is a US-based company that does not store any client data on its premises. Client Data resides in a secure data center and AWS facilities maintain environmental controls.

Change Control: TGA employs formal change control process. Changes are monitored throughout the implementation process to ensure success. The process is spearheaded/owned by the product owner, and managed via stand-ups, sprint cycles, and backlog. Appropriate segregation of duties is maintained between change approvals and change implementation. Approvals are obtained for Emergency changes. There are separate development, test, and production environments. We ensure that client production data is not used in development, staging, or testing / QA environments. We have a vulnerability management program that includes remediation of vulnerabilities identified in network and application security tests.

Can I download the data from each game to a spreadsheet?

Yes, you can download the assessment data using date ranges from your analytics dashboard to a .csv file and easily import that into Excel.

Do I get to keep the games forever like I do the templates I download?

During your subscription term you will have access to:

  • The game authoring tool
  • All games that you create
  • The analytics dashboard with the individual and group assessments
  • Leaderboards

If you do not keep your subscription live, then you’ll lose the ability to edit the games and view analytics and leaderboard information. The games will remain live however.

Do I get access to all the games in The Training Arcade® with my subscription?

Each subscription has a yearly license fee for one of the game types (ex. Jump, Match, Scramble, etc) per creator. Each game type license allows you to create unlimited games of that game type, all with different content. So if you buy a yearly license of the Jump game for your lead developer, he or she can create as many Jump games with different questions as he or she wants. And your whole company can play all those Jump games as often as they want!

Is it only one creator per subscription? Why only one?

Yes, it’s one. That way, all the games created by that person and the assessments are kept confidential to that one person, who we call the Administrator. We do offer great discounts for companies that purchase multiple subscriptions. Contact us for a custom quote.

Is The Training Arcade® xAPI-compliant?

Not yet, but we are definitely heading in that direction.

What devices can my learners use to play these games?

The games work on desktop and laptop PCs and Macs running the latest browsers and on most tablets and phones. We work hard to make the games responsive to different screen sizes but naturally some games lend themselves better to different viewing formats. The game authoring tool and analytics dashboard are best used on desktops and laptops.

What kind of support comes with the subscription?
