The immortal question: Is it art that imitates life, or life that imitates art? Why not both?
Regardless of your position on the question, we’d like to share with you a few Lectora templates that do their best to imitate life, providing familiar real-world situations to help engage learners in the material.
If you’ve ever taken a class in science, language, or any other subject that relies on memorization of any kind, you’ve probably use a flash card or two. It’s a quick and simple way to quiz yourself on a topic you’re having trouble wrapping your head around. The Flash Card template allows learners to take that experience into the digital realm. Simply view the description on the “front” of the card, and make your guess as to what the answer is. Then, click “View Back of Card” to see the answer. Mark whether or not your guess was correct—be honest—and move on to the next. At the end, you’ll get a review of how many you knew and how many you didn’t. Rinse and repeat until you get a perfect score!
Over a decade ago, though they had been around for quite a while, it became pretty much standard for most adults to have an email address. If you didn’t have one, it was almost as crazy as not having a phone. At this point, social media has reached the same level of necessity. Since most people are in some way connected to social media, it makes sense to have eLearning interactions that replicate that experience. Our Social Media template has a familiar aesthetic and gives cut and dried remediation with a thumbs-up or thumbs-down. Learners are sure to “like” it.
Being in the eLearning industry, chances are you’ve set foot in an office building at some point in your career, and so will many of your learners who are taking computer-based training courses. An office is its own unique ecosystem, which brings with it’s own challenges and social dynamics. This conversational branching scenario is one good way to give learners a primer on the type of situations that they are sure to run into on the job. Allowing the learners to get their feet wet in a safe environment will make them less likely to freeze up or falter when the they participate in the real deal.
Allow your learners to make art imitate life in their eLearning with these and many other Lectora templates in our template library. Long live art, and long live eLearning!
