The Hero’s Journey at ATD ICE 2018

We’re well into conference season and that means the team has been traveling across the country—and the globe—to spread eLearning awesomeness. At the beginning of the year, we went to Training 2018, ATD TK, and headed to Learning Technologies UK, then went on a quest for the northernmost example of eLearning. Just recently we were in Orlando running the Money Bus at Learning Solutions Conference and Expo. Now we’re gearing up for ATD ICE in May.

Our team of orange is pretty hard to miss on the expo floor, but did you know we frequently have members of the eLearning Brothers family presenting sessions at conferences as well? It would be rude of us to keep all this knowledge to ourselves, after all.

The dynamic duo of Rich Vass, Director, Custom Solutions Strategies and Dan Dellenbach, Sr. Custom Solutions Consultant are presenting on elements in learning games at ATD ICE on May 06, 2018. Here are the details:

ATD ICE SU113 – The Hero’s Journey: Exploring Often Overlooked Elements in Learning Games

Sun, May 06 | 11:45 AM – 1:00 PM | Room: 17

Today’s learners expect a lot from their learning games. Grabbing their attention and keeping it requires technology that features amazing graphics, feature functionality, badges, and all manner of techno-wizardry. This session will explore often-overlooked elements in learning games that have more to do with the story—the narrative—which can take surprisingly little time to craft but can make all the difference for learner engagement and immersion. We’ll explore a proven model with examples that demonstrate these elements in detail. Core concepts from the hero’s journey apply to all incredible stories—from Rocky Balboa to Luke Skywalker to Indiana Jones, these elements are the reason people care to dedicate their attention. Dedicate your attention to this session and return to your job with story elixir!

It’s definitely a session you won’t want to miss! And of course, there will be a band of orange-clad rockstars at our booth in the expo, so be sure to stop by there too, say hello, and get some swag. We love seeing you at conferences!

If you’re not attending ATD ICE this year, we’ll also be at SHRM toward the end of June and we’d be delighted to see you at the first-ever eLBX this June 11, 2018. We have a great lineup of speakers from eLearning Brothers and all across the industry just waiting to inspire you at eLBX.
