eLearning Template Library

One of the major reasons people subscribe to our eLearning Template Library is to save time. Here are three features you might not know about that will do just that. All three of these are found in your Product Subscription Dashboard, under the “Templates Library” section.

When you click on the “Downloads” link, you will see a history of every file you have downloaded from the Template Library. This comes in very handy when you can’t find that one file that you downloaded three months ago, and you don’t want to spend 20 minutes looking for it on your computer. Simply click the “Download Again” link on the far right, and you’re back in business.

The “Searches” link is the same idea, only it shows everything you have searched for. If you click on the right side of the row, you will be taken to the search results based on the “Query” column.

Collections are one of my favorite tools in the Template Library. Let’s say you are currently working on a course for new employees, but you know in 3 weeks you will be building a forklift safety course. As you are looking for images to use for new employees, you come across something that would be perfect for the forklift course. Instead of jotting down a file number on a sticky note, simply click the gray briefcase icon by the image.

A window will appear asking to which collection you would like to add the file. Choose an existing collection, or create a new one. Once you make you selection, you will be returned to the previous screen. You will notice that the briefcase has turned brown, letting you know that a file is saved in a collection.

So how do you access your collections? I’m glad you asked. Go back to the dashboard, and click on the “Collections Link.” From there, you can select the collection you would like to see. Once you are in the collection, you can download the files you have saved.

At this point I always get asked, “Is there a way to download all of the files in the collection at once?” Short answer: No, there isn’t. The Collections tool was designed to be a loose holding area for assets you might want to use, not for the final download queue.
These three tools will save you all sorts of time on your next project. Have another tip? Share it in the comments.
