4 tips for gaming – Not just for kiddos any more, games should be an integral part of any modern eLearning strategy.  Inserting a game into your training should also serve a purpose and not be thrown in willy-nilly just for the sake of taking a moment to divert. Per Venture Beat, the average age of today’s gamer is 31 years old, so we can deduct that applying gamification in eLearning for adults will be appropriate. These are some of the top objectives for implementing gamification in eLearning:

  1. Aesthetics: Our games have high visual value and can be utilized in a plethora of ways. If our game templates aren’t quite right for your course, you have full access to source files so you can customize them and make them yours.
  2. Engagement: Putting a game in front of your learners is a great way to make sure that there is still a pulse on the other side of the screen. By nature, most people are competitive and want to get the top score – or at least have some sense of accomplishment while learning new material. Giving someone a medal, even if it’s non-tangible, or reward through gamification is an effective way to accomplish that.
  3. Application of skills: When learners can apply their newly acquired knowledge and skills, they are much more likely to retain large chunks of information as well as small details.
  4. Retention of concepts: What good is the information we present to our learners if they are unable to take the subject matter with them to the field or if they cannot recall the content later.

2 Libraries Launching – This year we introduced two new subscriptions to the eLearning Brothers library offerings. Although we are already very well-appointed with the current collections (Templates, Stock, Cutouts, and Medical) we didn’t want to rest easy, as we still felt like we had gaps to fill in our library offerings. 1 Main Website – This year was a great year for the web presence of eLearning Brothers. When Andrew and Shawn Scivally launched the company, they wanted to help eLearning professionals develop great training courses. Our templates provide this need to others in the industry. The very first templates sold in 2009 were sold on our website eLearningTemplates.com, but the company news, blog, about us, and contact us details were housed on eLearningBrothers.com. Not long after the first templates were sold from the eLearningTemplates.com site, the company launched the custom development side of the house, but all of the nitty gritty details for our custom work were showcased and detailed on eLearningBrothers.com. Both sites started small and were created with separate objectives.

By the end of 2014, keeping both websites separate from one another no longer made sense. When our users wanted to learn about templates or see what we were doing as a company, they were finding us through eLearning Brothers blog posts, reading about the benefits of our templates and subscriptions on eLearningTemplates.com, signing up for their account in the member area of eLearningBrothers.com, and then they were pointed to eLearningTemplates.com to download their assets. We figured that this dizzying path couldn’t be the best way to help our customers.

In an attempt to provide our users the BEST possible experience and keep them from feeling as they’d been sent through a tumble dry cycle before they could contact us or start using our amazing templates, we combined our eLearningTemplates.com and eLearningBrothers.com websites. The benefits of making our two sites perform as one have been too numerous to list here. We hope you all have enjoyed the changes, as well!
