Viva Las Vegas! A DevLearn 2015 Recap

DevLearn 2015

Every year, as the season and the leaves start to change, we at eLearning Brothers turn our eyes to the bright lights of Las Vegas for the annual DevLearn conference and expo! This year brought us adventures both new and old. Let’s take a look!

The Booth and the King

Just one year ago, we stormed the gates of the Bellagio for DevLearn, bringing with us a booth full of orange-shirted staff and rock star mannequins (appropriately named Bro Jovi and Bro Brett). It’s no secret that we both love to rock and love to help you all look like eLearning rock stars! This year, we decided to take a similar approach but bring things up a notch. Bring things to life, you might say.

DevLearn Elvis

That ain’t no devil in disguise…

That’s right! Elvis was rockin’ out in our booth this year! Attendees had the opportunity to get their picture taken with the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll while learning about our sweet deals for this year’s DevLearn. What deals, I hear you ask? Well, as any of our orange-clad personnel would have told you, we were offering free templates and assets for a year! All you had to do was subscribe to one of our awesome libraries and we would throw in an extra year of either our Stock Assets Library or our PowerPoint Graphics Library on top of it!

What’s better than one giveaway?

How about two?!  Well, technically, there were multiple different prizes. But this year, we decided that we were going to have two different drawing pools for people to enter.

The first giveaway was brand new. Every conference, we tend to give away a ton of our awesome Bro Bands, and this year was no exception. We tried to catch people in the hallways and around the conference wearing their Bro Bands. If they took a picture with us, we gave them a white, numbered sticker and entered them into our Bro Band Brigade giveaway. Two lucky individuals would walk away with a bag full of goodies including:

  • More Bro Bands (for all their friends!)
  • An eLearning Brothers hoodie and t-shirt
  • Candy
  • $500 of eLearning Brothers Cash!

We love seeing people showing of their ELB Orange, especially at conferences. We hope our two winners, Elvis (not to be confused with booth Elvis; how cool is that?!) and Destery, walked away feeling rewarded for wearing their Bro Bands proudly!

The second giveaway was very similar to what we had last year.  We created five different Rock Star packages (up one more from last year), each containing development software, training, and eLearning Brothers templates for a year. We gotta give a quick shout out to our partners and friends at Lectora, AdobeiSpring, TechSmith, and Articulate for providing/creating some really awesome software we could give away! Attendees just needed to stop by our booth and speak with one of our staff to walk away with an orange, numbered sticker and a chance to win one of these amazing Rock Star packages! Who ended up winning? These lucky individuals did:

  • Lectora Package: Devon from the West Indies
  • Adobe Captivate Package: Helen from California
  • TechSmith Camtasia Package: Diane from Massachusetts
  • Articulate Storyline Package: Sean from Pennsylvania
  • iSpring Package: Heather from Texas

We took to the Internet last week, spreading the fun on Twitter, Facebook, and even the DevLearn app. We tried to compile all of the photos we took of our experience at DevLearn into one album, which you can now find on Facebook. We even took some video of the giveaway if you want to join in the experience! We hope you had fun this year, and we look forward to seeing you all there next year!

One last thing…

If you were able to go, then you were likely able to attend Adam Savage’s really amazing keynote presentation on Thursday. Rock on Adam…

Doesn’t get much better than Adam Savage wearing a Bro Band making a ninja pose with Bro. Curtis. #RockOn #DevLearn2015
