Time is Money: Use a Soft Skills Course to Teach Time Management

It’s often said that “time is money” and that’s true in few different ways. For one, it can mean that time wasted is that much less money you can earn. But another way time and money intertwine is that they both require budgeting. In order to get the most out of either, you have to know their value, how much you have, what you want to do with it, and then plan accordingly.

Today, we take a look at our new Time Management course template, part of our Customizable Courseware library. Easily improve your company’s workflow by teaching your staff the fundamentals of Time Management.

The introduction page delivers a sage piece of wisdom from the renowned 19th century writer Victor Hugo. The quote is weighty on its own, but even more so when you consider what Hugo did with his time. Anyone who can budget their time efficiently enough to write a 1,900-word novel (Les Miserables in the original French edition) can safely be considered a time management expert.

Right out of the gate, learners have a chance to go through a sample activity log to determine how well time was managed. This is an easy way to get them to apply time management skills in a hypothetical but realistic context.

There are many ways one could define the term “time management,” but this course gives it a succinct and useful definition: Controlling your environment and work process in order to minimize distractions and maximize efficiency.

A tabbed interaction lets learners explore four key benefits of time management.

Learners can even apply their knowledge of these benefits by examining the needs of people in time-sensitive hypothetical situations.
