eLearning and Charity

If you peruse our blog, you will quickly see that we have a lot of fun here at eLearning Brothers. (Take a look at the 12 Days of eLearning and the DevLearn Shake.)

It’s a great place to work. We have the best eLearning templates on the planet, and the most talented custom development team to go along with it. But its more than just hard work and good fun. When last Christmas season rolled around, I suggested we do a clothing drive to cap off our Christmas party. I wasn’t quite sure what to expect as we are a small office. Maybe one or two grocery bags that I could drop off after work.

An announcement was made and the clothes came rolling in.

A space was set aside in an empty cubicle for storage. By the end of that week, we had collected a pretty good amount of clothing for those less fortunate. Over the weekend, more clothes showed up. By the end of the next week, which was the proposed deadline, I had people asking me if I could wait just a few more days because they were still cleaning out their closets.

And so I waited a few days and more clothes came. Then I waited a few more days and more clothes came. I waited even a few more days and more clothes came. Finally, to almost two weeks after the deadline, I gave a “last call” and the team answered. We filled a car with the donations, and took it down to a local charity. It was a great day!

In the grand scheme of things, we probably didn’t save a life. We perhaps didn’t change somebody’s life. But hopefully, for somebody who was going through a tough spot, we made it a little easier.

Thanks for letting us do what we do… (make awesome eLearning templates) as we couldn’t do it with out our awesome customers.

Keep making great eLearning,

Brother Zach

  1. I would like to invite you (Brother Zach) and your whole team to adopt another nonprofit that is leveraging e-learning to empower nonprofits around the world to serve more people. DisasterReady.org, part of the Cornerstone OnDemand Foundation, serves thousands of humanitarians and aid workers with free e-learning resources through our portal. We have received free templates from some organizations to help our pro bono volunteers to deliver on our commitment toward rapid development of courses just after a disaster strikes. We could use many more templates to provide our volunteers with more awesomeness. Our goal is to impact 50,000 humanitarians this year alone. Can I buy you a cup of virtual coffee and tell you more?
