We love Lectora for its versatility and quality. That’s why we partnered with them to provide so many awesome templates for you to plug into the interface! Lectora does the job, and it does it well. Today we’re talking about a three types of Lectora templates that will work wonders, raising the visual quality of your Lectora course to the umpteenth degree.
If you have more than a passing interest in video games and how they work, you may have heard of the term “reskin.” All this means is that the basic game mechanics have been left intact, but someone has replaced the graphics and/or sounds to give the game a different look (a new “skin”). Imagine you were playing Pong, but someone had replaced the virtual paddles with trampolines and the ball was replaced with the face of the incomparable Golden Globe winning actor Steve Buscemi, who stared at you and made wisecracks every so often. The controls and physics are all the same and there haven’t been any drastic changes to the code of the game, outside of graphics and sounds. A surreal experience to be sure, but that’s essentially what we’re talking about here.
Above we have one of our very own skin template, Razor, which comes with a sleek, built-in navigation bar at the top. However, you’ll also notice that the design elements are generic shapes that you can replace with your own words and images, effectively reskinning our skin to create your own module with a similar layout but a design aesthetic all your own.

Though you can essentially reskin any of our templates with a bit of time and skill, some of them offer a ready-made aesthetic design, like our Executive layout template (pictured above). You already have yourself a professional looking design to work with. All you have to do is plug in your own text and branding, perhaps moving some pieces around and tweaking graphics or colors to suit your style.
Cutout characters, like Katheryn (left), are very useful for putting a human face on your course. These cutouts can be used in many different ways. They can be used as an illustration in the background. You can treat them as a sort of host for the course, playing a voice-over narration in conjunction with certain poses and gestures to make it seem like the cutout is doing the talking. And since they’re PNG’s you can put them in front of any background and it will still look natural.
